Lists of example shift patterns
We have constructed lists of example shift patterns (rosters, rotas) for continuous work based on 4 teams.

Shift pattern examples are available based on:

4 team shift patterns with a reduction in weekly hours
The average number of hours rostered per week in a 4-team system based on full teams, paid mealbreaks and no handovers between shifts is 42. This can be reduced by rostering additional rest days which effectively means running with less than a full team for part of the week. There are many ways in which this can be done depending on contracted hours required per week and team sizes.
An example: reducing to an average of 36 hours per week
Suppose you want:

| no handovers between shifts |
One way of achieving this is to:
| split each team into two halves |
| make sure that each half-team has the full range of skills and grades |
| roster full-teams during weekdays, Mon-Fri |
| roster half-teams at weekends, Sat-Sun |
This can be done by taking a standard 4-team shift pattern based on full teams and rostering just half-teams at the weekends, on a rota basis.
